What's the story

Priyanka Chopra has hit back at an Australian journalist who questioned the actress' credibility in the entertainment industry. The reporter asked if Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas, who is an actor and singer, had enough contribution in the field to be given the task of announcing the Oscar nominations. Chopra responded with a tweet and sort of won the argument.

Journalist asked if the Jonas couple was qualified enough

After the celebrity couple announced the nominations, Australian journalist Peter Ford asked on Twitter if they were qualified enough for the job. Chopra, who has left a mark in Bollywood and is now making waves in Hollywood, responded with a clip that featured her IMDb page. "Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone," she captioned the tweet, which was liked over 3,000 times.

Her fans praised Chopra for schooling journalist

Unsurprisingly, Chopra, who enjoys a massive fan following on social media, was praised for standing up for herself. Ford later tweeted that he was not aware of Chopra's extensive movie credits. He added, "However my opinion hasn't changed. But way new experience to have someone with 27,000,000 followers coming after me-many of them angry & abusive. (sic)" Subsequently, he locked his Twitter profile.

Chopra's 'The White Tiger' got a nod too

It was a coincidental delight for Chopra as her film The White Tiger also bagged a nomination. The film's director Ramin Bahrani secured the 'Best Adapted Screenplay' nomination. Besides featuring in the movie, Chopra also executive-produced it. The Netflix release also stars Adarsh Gourav and Rajkummar Rao. The movie tells the story of an ambitious poor driver while unearthing India's rich-poor divide and corruption.
