Shahid's 'Kabir Singh' beats 'Sanju', 'Padmaavat' at the box office
There is no stopping Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh, as the movie, in its third week, has maintained its momentum at box office. It has raked in a stupendous total of Rs. 239.97 crore, and has beaten the likes of Sanju and Padmaavat in its third week test. Notably, the film has emerged as the third-highest third Monday grosser after Baahubali 2 and Dangal.
'Kabir Singh,' with its third Monday collection defeats 'Uri,' 'Sanju'
According to Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has been heavily trending on its third Monday, and collected an impressive Rs. 4.25 crore. On their third Mondays, Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike had collected Rs. 3.43 crore, while Sanju and Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat collected Rs. 2.81 crore and Rs. 3.20 crore respectively. So clearly Kabir Singh has toppled them all.
'Kabir Singh' may cross lifetime collection of 'Uri'
Adding further, Adarsh mentioned that Kabir Singh, a remake of Arjun Reddy, has emerged as "the 10th highest grossing #Hindi film while #Uri moves to the 11th position." It was predicted that given the steady pace Kabir Singh has maintained so far, it may crush Uri's lifetime collection of Rs. 245.36 crore in its third week. "Kabir Singh is a lottery," Adarsh claims.

You experienced him. You understood him, Thank you: Shahid writes
Notably, Kabir Singh is also Shahid's first solo blockbuster and he is undoubtedly overwhelmed with this success. Expressing his gratitude towards fans, he wrote a long post on Instagram and said that he's never felt so thankful. "Thank you for understanding him, forgiving him and loving him with all your heart. You didn't judge him, you experienced him. You understood him," he wrote.
"My most flawed character became my most loved"
Your love is so overwhelming words will always fall short. Thank you for understanding him forgiving him and loving him with all your heart. We all fall apart. And we all must strive to rise from our faults. To be better. To be wiser. To be kinder. He is flawed. So are we all. You didn’t judge him you experienced him. You understood him. I have never ever felt so thankful. The most flawed character I have ever played. Has become my most loved. Indeed indian cinema and the audience has come a long way. More power to brave choices. More power to you all for your maturity and humanness. You have given me wings to fly. To not only be burdened by the need to be loved to be a star but to have the courage to be hated in equal measure to be an actor. Here’s to cinema mirroring life. To protagonists who don’t have to be restricted by their goodness and can be human and imperfect. There is perfection in imperfection and that is the beauty and the challenge of this human life. Thank you. Again and again. You all are the heroes of this story.
My wife Mira believed I should do this character: Shahid
Amidst all the criticism surrounding the movie, Shahid revealed that it was his wife who had encouraged him to do Kabir Singh. In his recent interview, he stated that Mira loved director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's work and felt that "the character had potential." "She was always very optimistic and believed that this is a character I should have in my filmography," he asserted.
