'Sonchiriya' is inspired by real stories

The action-packed movie aims to give viewers an insight into the bygone era. This Abhishek Chaubey directorial will give a glimpse of the glorious years of dacoits in central India. Shot in the valleys of Madhya Pradesh, what adds to the interest is the fact that the movie is set against the backdrop of 1975 Emergency. Undoubtedly, cine buffs are quite excited for Sonchiriya.

Controversy

'Sonchiriya' sparked a controversy for defaming Chambal

Meanwhile, Sonchiriya recently landed into legal trouble after an NGO slammed the makers for showing Chambal in a bad light. Shiksha Mitr Foundation, a Gwalior-based NGO, slapped a legal notice alleging that Chambal, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, has been shown poorly in Sonchiriya. The NGO also claimed that the movie hurt the sentiments of the residents of Chambal.

'Sonchiriya' slated to release next week

Featuring an ensemble cast and helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, known for Udta Punjab and Ishqiya, Sonchiriya presents a rooted tale set in Chambal. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP, the movie is slated to release on March 1, 2019.
