Abhishek Chaubey is an Indian filmmaker born on March 30, 1977. He started his career by working as an associate director and co-writer to Vishal Bhardwaj for his debut horror-comedy film ‘Makdee’ (2002). Chaubey is known for co-writing Bhardwaj’s trendsetting films ‘Omkara’ (2006) and ‘Kaminey’ (2009). He made his directorial debut in 2010 with the dark comedy ‘Ishqiya’. Chaubey made his debut as a producer with Konkona Sen Sharma’s drama film ‘A Death in the Gunj’ in 2016. ‘A Death in the Gunj’ was premiered at MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. The Western action film ‘Sonchiriya’, co-written and directed by Chaubey, won the Critics Award for Best Film at the 65th Filmfare Awards. He completed his schooling from Siva Sivani Public School, Hyderabad, in the year 1995. Chaubey did his graduation in English literature from Hindu College, University of Delhi. He also did a course in Film & Television Production from Xavier Institute of Communications before entering the world of filmmaking.
