'Tumbbad 2' character to get 3 different looks: Prosthetic designer
What's the story
The upcoming film Tumbbad 2 is set to take its technical ambition to new heights, with one of its central characters undergoing a dramatic transformation. This metamorphosis will be achieved through extensive prosthetic makeups designed by Shaune Harrison, who has previously worked on the Harry Potter series and Avengers: Age of Ultron. He spoke about the scale of the transformation and the precision needed for continuity during a long shoot.
Character transformation
'And they're quite extensive makeups'
Harrison revealed that one main character will have three different looks in Tumbbad 2. He said, "I mean, there is one main character that we're doing, for which we go through three different looks. And they're quite extensive makeups." The prosthetics designer also highlighted the need for multiple makeups to ensure continuity when productions require both performance and stunt doubles.
Production pipeline
Harrison explained the production process
Harrison described the prosthetics production process as similar to mass manufacturing. He explained, "You have all the molds... we inject silicone into the molds. So it's like a factory line. You produce the same thing over and over and over again." This method ensures seamless continuity so that viewers never notice any inconsistencies during a non-linear shoot.
