Maharashtra budget 2026 focuses on developing 'Fourth Mumbai'
Maharashtra's new budget is all about transforming the Mumbai region.
There's a bold plan for a "Fourth Mumbai" at Vadhavan to boost logistics, plus redevelopment of 20 lakh slum homes and construction of 10 lakh affordable houses.
To prevent more unplanned settlements, the state will use GIS technology for a "No New Slum Framework."
New urban center, high-speed rail stations coming up
There's more: expect a world-class stadium, an innovation hub in Taloja, and three new high-speed rail stations by 2027.
"Third Mumbai" near Atal Setu will become a fresh urban center.
The budget also promises new employment opportunities, resources for irrigation to help farmers, upgrades to healthcare facilities, and new rural schools.
Fadnavis said the budget aims for growth while making sure everyone benefits.
