Move over Urban Naxals, the Angry Right Indian is here

Move over Urban Naxals, the Angry Right Indian is here

From Modi 1.0 to Modi 2.0, a lot of things have changed. His own ideas sound repetitive, and his promises hollow. He wanted to fix so many things, he ended up killing the economy. But, this article is not about him - it is about the societal changes his regime brought. If his first tenure decimated the hypocrisy of a Left Liberal, this tenure has already exposed the shallowness of the Angry Right Indian.

But, unlike LeLi gang, their intent is not wrong

Bravo, you read the first 70 words, and didn't start abusing me! Now, we know two things about you - a) You are also disenchanted by the man and his followers. b) Not everything is black and white for you. But, if you are a pseudo liberal, this will hurt you even more. Unlike you, the Angry Right Indian's intent is not wrong. He loves his motherland, and doesn't have an agenda. He is just disillusioned.

Narendra Modi is their savior. Hook, line and sinker

So, let's talk about this Angry Right Indian and his traits. They think Modi is their savior and don't hold him accountable for anything. He can buy (alleged) rapist MLAs, partner with the corrupt, be intolerant to criticism, take as many U-turns, smother the economy. But he can't be questioned. Ask these Right Indians- how is Modi economically right, and they have no answer.

Hell hath no fury like a Right Indian scorned!

These Angry Right Indians have been wronged by so many regimes in the past that they think Modi is God sent. They protect him fiercely, lest anything happens to him. And, if you question his actions, they attack you. Relentlessly. In groups.

They think only they can save Hinduism

Once again, one is acutely aware of Hinduphobia. For far too long, it has been perpetuated by intellectuals, and accentuated by media and Bollywood babas. But, how is a hashtag an answer to that? It is not a battle or a war, it needs systemic, gradual changes. Instead of questioning whether a Muslim Professor can teach Sanskrit or not, they should ask the ruling party to fix our NCERT books. Let our kids learn the right History.

    Their biggest obsession is Pakistan

Have you ever seen Ambani cribbing about power cuts? Or SRK being compared to Bobby Deol? Or Virat Kohli getting defensive with Farooq Engineer? Okay, well that happened. But the point is - why should India ever think about Pakistan? Pakistan's GDP is less than Maharashtra's GDP; India is a democracy; the world takes us seriously, and we are secular. By constantly talking about Pakistan, we insult ourselves. But, who will tell this to Angry Right Indian? Clearly, not Aatish Taseer!

They are angry, and have run out of ideas

When passion meets little knowledge, tragedy happens. And, that is exactly the state of Indian society. Why can't I be someone who wanted the abrogation of Article 370 but question the way it was implemented? Why can't I be someone who supports Ram Mandir but don't think it is a victory? Why should I settle for non-corruption but no development? Because the Right Indian is angry, has no room for nuances and has the support of Mr. Modi.

From Unoffended Right Indian to Angry Right Indian

If anyone is listening, here are my concluding thoughts: a) India chose Modi, it was a transaction, he is answerable to us. b) He can't always be right. c) If you don't want to question him, at least don't silence the rest of us.
