After Sakshi Misra, Allahabad-girl 'threatened' for marrying against family's wishes
Days after Sakshi Misra, the daughter of a BJP MLA from Bareilly, released a video alleging her life was under threat as she married a Dalit man, another girl has followed suit. Diksha Agarwal, who belongs to Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad, claimed her family is threatening her after she married Madhya Pradesh's Rituraj Rajput, against their wishes. However, her family challenged her version. Here's more.
This is the story of Diksha and Rituraj, who met each other in Maharashtra some three years ago. Rituraj, a resident of Bhopal, works as an engineer in Bhuj, Gujarat. On July 4, he went to Allahabad to meet Diksha. He returned a day later with her. According to Bhaskar, they got married at a restaurant (?) and registered their marriage on July 6.
Diksha, the granddaughter of Allahabad's former deputy mayor Muralilal Agarwal, released a video with a strong message for her family. She said she married Rituraj, without any coercion. She named Muralilal, her father Pawan Agarwal, aunt Seema Agarwal, and uncle Manoj Agarwal, and asked them to stop troubling her and her in-laws. She said her family would be responsible for any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, according to Rituraj's father BK Rajput, Diksha's family members came to their house on July 7 and misbehaved with them. They kept reiterating their disdain for the marriage and demanded to meet Diksha. When they were told she wasn't there, they didn't believe the Rajputs. Finally, they left after a lot of drama. Rajput Sr. said he didn't know about the couple's whereabouts.
Later, Diksha's family members returned to Rajputs' house on Saturday afternoon. This time, they came with UP policemen and wanted to conduct "search operation". The turn of events affected Rituraj's mother's health, forcing the officials and Diksha's family to leave. Rituraj's mother, Rajudevi Singh, was first taken to Bansal Hospital, from where she was referred to Bhopal Memorial Hospital.
The tale took a murky turn on Sunday after Pawan filed a police complaint against Rituraj's family. On the basis of his complaint, Civil Lines station filed an FIR against Rituraj, his father and mother on charges of kidnapping and attempt to murder. As per Pawan, Rituraj wants to get his hands on property worth crores, which is registered in his daughter's name.
Pawan said Diksha ran away from the house carrying jewelry worth Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh cash. Further, he said when he requested Rajput Sr. to let him meet his daughter, but he denied. Instead, Rajput Sr. threatened that if Pawan approaches police, he would kill Diksha and dispose of her body. Pawan thinks his daughter gave the statement under duress.
