    TV-anchor Karan Ambardar alleged that he and his wife were "forcefully" made to wait on the Mumbai's airport aerobridge for more than an hour, after he complained about the quality of food in the flight. On Saturday, Ambardar approached the police, alleging that he was threatened for doing the same. According to SpiceJet's statement, several on-board passengers have volunteered to testify against Ambardar.

    Bombay High Court directs State Government to build more prisons

    The Bombay High Court has directed the Maharashtra government to build more prisons in Pune and Mumbai. The state government was urged to take measures within the next 3 months for the same. According to the court, a distinguished architect and renowned person from public health must be included in a multi-member committee appointed by Maharashtra government for making recommendations on modernization of jails.

    Bandra Lake will feature glass tunnel with underwater view

    Last week, local MLA Ashish Shelar proposed the revamp of Bandra Talao (a grade II heritage structure) to BMC Chief Ajoy Mehta. As part of the phase II of the lake's revamp, a glass walkway has been planned, which will offer residents of the city an underwater view. The plan, designed by students of IES College of Architecture, is estimated to cost Rs. 8.81crore.

    Animosity between BJP, Shiv Sena diminishing

    One day after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the BJP will not claim Mumbai's mayoral position, the Shiv Sena went easy on its resignation threats. After the CM's press conference, Sena leader and Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam said that Shiv Sena members were no longer carrying resignation letters in their pockets. He also said that Shiv Sena will ensure transparency in state functioning.

    Railway cop shoots himself at station

    A Railway Protection Force cop reportedly shot himself in the RPF locker room of Mumbai Central station. According to constable Dalvir Singh's famiy, the 23-year-old was frustrated as he was denied sufficient leave in order to attend the elaborate wedding his family had planned for him. His bosses said that his leave was sanctioned as per his request.

    College students with special needs to be offered concessions

    According to an announcement made by the Maharashtra government, college students with special needs will be offered the same concessions offered to higher secondary school students. This is the first time the state has released a uniform policy for higher education students. They will now be allotted exam centres close to home, extra time to complete their paper and the like.

    Now, choose tariffs for taxis, autos

    The KC Khatua committee appointed by the state to fix tariffs for black-and-yellow taxis, autos, Cool cabs, fleet taxis, app-based aggregators will soon conduct a state-wide online and offline consumer feedback survey. Tuesday onwards, commuters can fill the 25-question form on transport.maharashtra.gov.in Responses collected from this survey will be analyzed by the committee before it fixes tariff formulae.
