Ashish Shelar: News

Ashish Shelar is a lawyer, social activist, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician, and a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from Parle College and did his LLB from GJ Advani Law College, graduating in 1995. A Swayamsevak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since school days, Shelar went on to work with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and later joined the BJP. He has held key positions in the party’s state unit as the president of the Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), president of the North West Mumbai district BJP, and as president of the Mumbai BJP. Shelar was elected as a Municipal Corporator from Khar suburb, Mumbai. He was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council between 2012 and 2014 and was elected from the Vandre West constituency in the 2014 State Assembly elections. Shelar retained his seat in the 2019 Maharashtra elections.
