Suraj Pal Amu, who announced a Rs.10cr bounty on Padmavati actress Deepika Padukone's head, resigned from his post as BJP's chief media-coordinator in Haryana. However, not willing to back down from generating more controversy, he claimed, "Now my dream is to slap (former J&K CM) Farooq Abdullah on Lal Chowk, I challenge him to meet me there." Why is he always in news?

What were his remarks about Padmavati?

Earlier, referring to the Padmavati row, at a Rajput event in Delhi, Suraj had said, "How can somebody distort history?" Further, he claimed the movie projected "heroic" Rani Padmavati in a poor light. He said the film won't be allowed to release. Complimenting a Meerut youth for announcing a Rs. 5cr bounty, Amu doubled the offer. Haryana BJP had distanced itself from the remark.

    Now, why is Amu resigning?

Haryana BJP served a show cause notice to Amu, seeking an explanation for his scandalous remarks. However, without giving an explanation, Amu forwarded his resignation to state chief Subhash Barala over WhatsApp. He said he was upset with CM Manohar Khattar for allegedly skipping a meeting with Karni Sena representatives; he called Khattar "arrogant." Now, Amu will continue working as an "ordinary" BJP worker.
