AI could make weight-loss drugs work smarter for you

Technology

AI is stepping in to help doctors figure out who benefits most from popular weight-loss meds like Wegovy and Zepbound.
By analyzing millions of patient records, researchers spotted a group they call "super responders"—people who lost over 15% of their body weight.
The big idea? AI could help match the right drug to the right person, making treatments more effective and personal.

What the study found

About 1 in 8 patients turned out to be "super responders," especially those with muscle stiffness but no joint problems.
The study also noticed that knee pain made Zepbound less effective, while people with sciatica did better on Wegovy.
Researchers hope to build an algorithm so doctors can pick the best option for each person, moving us closer to truly personalized weight-loss plans.
