AMD CEO set to reveal new AI chip series

AMD is stepping up its game in the AI world with the upcoming MI400 chip series, hoping to give NVIDIA some real competition. Set for release in 2026, these chips are built for both artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC), making them a big move for AMD. The MI400 series includes specialized chips for AI (MI450X) and HPC (MI430X), rather than each chip being built for both purposes.

TL;DR

Built on CDNA Next architecture

The MI400 series runs on AMD's new CDNA Next architecture, packing up to eight XCDs and separate active substrates. This means faster data transfer and improved memory capacity and bandwidth compared to previous models—basically, they're designed to handle heavy workloads smoothly.

MI400 series tuned for different workloads

There will be two main versions: the MI450X for AI tasks and the MI430X for serious computing jobs like scientific research. Both will drop in late 2026, each tuned for different types of precision work—whether you're into machine learning or number crunching. If you're following tech or thinking about a future in AI, this is one launch worth keeping an eye on.
