Android users can edit texts sent to iPhones

Google is making it easier for Android users to fix typos or rethink messages sent to iPhones.
Thanks to a new update based on the RCS Universal Profile 3.0 (now supported in iOS 18), you can now edit your texts within 15 minutes—even in group chats.
Plus, features like typing indicators and read receipts make chatting across Android and iPhone feel smoother.

TL;DR

How to edit messages

To edit a message, just long-press it, tap the pencil icon, make your changes, and resend.
On an iPhone, your edited text shows up as a new message with an asterisk—so the original bubble won't change yet.
For now, only Android users can use this feature since Apple's Messages app needs an update; it's still in beta and rolling out gradually.

What's RCS and its benefits?

RCS (Rich Communication Services) upgrades old-school SMS with modern messaging perks and helps Android and iPhone users connect better.
While editing has been possible between Android devices, this is the first time edits work across platforms—bringing both sides closer together when texting.
