Apple Macs will soon have a virtual ring light

Technology

Apple is testing a new feature called "Edge Light" in the latest macOS beta.
It's basically a smart virtual ring light that uses AI to put a bright border around your Mac's screen, making you look more polished on FaceTime, Zoom, and other video calls.
The update is coming to all Apple Silicon Macs this December.

How 'Edge Light' works

"Edge Light" uses Apple's Neural Engine to find your face and automatically tweaks the lighting based on your room.
You can even adjust the color temperature—think warm or cool vibes, like pro setups.
The border fades away when you move your cursor near it, doesn't mess with screenshots, and won't block your menu bar.
It also works with Studio Display and external cameras, plus newer Macs will auto-enable it in low light.
Developers can try it now in beta if they're curious.
