Artemis II astronauts to receive Congressional Space Medal of Honor

NASA's Artemis II astronauts are getting a major shoutout: President Donald Trump will award them the Congressional Space Medal of Honor on August 28, 2026.
The ceremony happens at Johnson Space Center in Houston, and you can catch it live.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and the crew themselves are expected to attend.
First humans beyond LEO since 1972
Artemis II was a huge deal: it sent Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen around the Moon in April 2026, making them the first humans to leave low Earth orbit since 1972.
The Congressional Space Medal of Honor is super rare (only 30 people have ever received it), highlighting just how big this achievement is as NASA works toward building a base near the Moon's south pole.
