Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket just made history with NASA's Mars mission

Technology

Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral on November 13, 2025, sending NASA's EscaPADE satellites toward Mars.
The big headline: its reusable booster nailed a sea landing for the first time—a huge moment.

What's EscaPADE all about?

The two EscaPADE satellites, called Blue and Gold, will help scientists understand how solar winds affect Mars's atmosphere and magnetic field by 2027.
After some delays last year, NASA invested $18 million to get them flying—teaming up with Rocket Lab and UC Berkeley for the science gear.
The mission even tested out new tech for relaying data back to Earth.
