Bootid meteor shower: A spectacular celestial event
Heads up, stargazers! The Bootid meteor shower is set to peak on June 27, and depending on the night, you could spot just a few or even over 100 meteors an hour.
For the best chance, look up after sunset or right before dawn near the Bootes constellation.
Where, when, and what to see
Find a spot with a clear view of the western sky—aim between the bright stars Arcturus and Alkaid.
With only a slim crescent moon (just 9% illuminated), skies will be extra dark for meteor spotting.
The Bootids come from comet 7P/Pons-Winnecke, which swings by Earth again in 2027.
All you need is some patience and maybe a friend to share the view!
