December's Cold Moon: Your last supermoon of 2025 is here!

Technology

Heads up, sky-watchers—the final supermoon of the year, known as the Cold Moon, peaks on December 5 at 6:14pm EST.
It'll look about 8% bigger and 15% brighter than your usual full moon, according to Star Walk.
For the most impressive view, step outside just after moonrise at 3:54pm EST and check out the eastern horizon.

Why this 1's special (and what's next)

This Cold Moon sits highest in northern skies and lowest in the south—a rare setup.
After this lunar show, mark your calendar for a New Moon on December 20 and the Ursids meteor shower peaking two days later.
With darker skies after the supermoon fades, you might catch up to 10 shooting stars an hour!
