Delhi High Court asks Meta to explain Rights Manager access
Delhi High Court has asked Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, to spell out how it decides who can use its Rights Manager tool.
This happened after a creator said he was blocked from using the tool, making his content hard to protect after ownership was claimed by scammers using Rights Manager.
The judge called the policy unfair, saying it's like "giving the key to the robber and not to the owner of the house."
Delhi High Court probes suspension authority
Rights Manager lets certain users track and control their content uploads, but access is limited.
Meta told the court it fixed past copyright strikes against the complainant and restored his posts, but never suspended his accounts.
Now, both this case and another about a wrongly suspended Instagram account will be heard on September 24.
The court will look at issues concerning the authority of social media platforms to suspend user profiles based on copyright infringement claims.
