FBI alerts US airlines of Scattered Spider cyberattacks
The FBI just alerted US airlines about a cybercriminal group called Scattered Spider, known for tricking employees and breaking into big companies using social engineering and ransomware.
In June, they reportedly got into two major airlines by pretending to be staff and convincing IT help desks to skip security steps like multi-factor authentication.
Airlines need to be more careful about identity requests
Scattered Spider steals sensitive data, uses ransomware to mess with airline systems, and keeps an eye on internal chats to avoid getting caught.
Recent incidents exposed how vulnerable airlines can be—even though flights weren't affected this time.
The FBI is urging airlines to double-check identity requests, tighten controls, and report breaches quickly so everyone stays safer in the skies.
