Google Messages brings RCS archival for work chats

Google announced a new RCS Archival feature for Android, mainly to help businesses and government teams keep records of their chats.
The cool part? You still get encrypted messages, read receipts, and high-quality media sharing.
It is currently supported on Google Pixel and other compatible Android Enterprise devices.

Makes compliance easier (and more transparent)

With this update, messages on managed work devices can be archived directly—no need for complicated carrier logs.
Employees get notified when archiving is turned on, so everything stays clear and above board.
Early partners like Celltrust, Smarsh, and 3rd Eye are already onboard, with more joining in 2026.
