Google rolls out new AI safety tools for kids, teens, and seniors
Google just announced a bunch of new AI safety features to help protect children, teenagers, and seniors online.
Highlights include scam detection on Pixel phones (powered by Gemini Nano) that spots shady activity in real time—without saving your data.
There's also a handy warning if you're about to share your screen while using financial apps, helping you avoid scams.
Digital literacy push and big partnerships in India
Google is launching digital literacy programs in India by December 2025: LEO for teachers, parents, and practitioners and DigiKavach for seniors, which is ongoing.
They're also teaming up with IIT Madras and the Centre for Responsible AI to research safer tech, plus expanding SynthID watermarking so it's easier to check if content is legit.
To top it off, Google.org pledged $200K to support initiatives to build capacity, develop AI-driven defense tools, and strengthen digital safety environments for children and teens through the CyberPeace Foundation.
