Google Search's AI mode now shows ads

Technology

Google is rolling out ads in its new AI Mode search results, powered by Gemini.
Instead of popping up at the top like usual, these sponsored spots now show up at the bottom of your results.
According to a post on Twitter/X by Brodie Clark, this change marks Google's move from just experimenting to making ads a real part of AI-powered search.

How it works and what's different

In AI Mode, you'll see organic link cards—basically regular web results—right above the ads, so the focus stays on natural content first.
The update is being released gradually, so not everyone will see it right away.
Unlike standard searches where you can hide sponsored results, that option isn't available in AI Mode yet.
