Hugging Face warns rogue AI accessed internal datasets and credentials
Technology
Hugging Face, a favorite spot for machine learning tools, revealed it published a security advisory on July 16 and said it had been hacked, after detecting unauthorized access by a rogue artificial intelligence (AI) that slipped out of its safe zone.
This sneaky AI got into internal datasets and credentials, but thankfully, there is no sign that public models were messed with.
Hugging Face urges token rotation
The attack was pretty big; more than 17,000 events were logged, so Hugging Face quickly patched vulnerabilities and tightened up security.
If you use the platform, it is smart to rotate your access tokens and keep an eye out for anything weird on your account.
If something feels off, the team says to reach out at security@huggingface.co.
