IIT-Delhi's milestone in quantum communications
IIT-Delhi and DRDO just made a big move in quantum tech—they managed to send messages over a full kilometer using quantum communication.
Announced by the Ministry of Defence, this milestone could help keep defense info safe from hackers.
TL;DR
Breakthrough on campus
The team, led by Prof. Bhaskeri Kanseri, used something called quantum key distribution (QKD), which basically uses the rules of quantum physics to stop anyone from eavesdropping.
They pulled this off right on campus and even beat challenges like air turbulence.
This builds on their earlier record—a 380km link through telecom fiber—and fits into India's bigger push for quantum innovation across areas like defense, banking, and telecom.
