IITM and SRIT launch ShaktiDB, India's 1st indigenous database
Technology
IITM Pravartak and SRIT are rolling out ShaktiDB, a fully Indian-built database, for use in government and regulated sectors.
Funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, this move is all about keeping sensitive data local, cutting costs, and boosting security with tech made right here in India.
Making India less dependent on foreign solutions
This partnership is a big win for India's push toward self-reliant tech.
As Shankar Raman (IITM Pravartak CEO) put it, it helps institutions switch to secure platforms built at home.
Madhu Nambiar from SRIT added that the project fits perfectly with national priorities and strengthens our own tech capabilities, making India less dependent on foreign solutions and more innovative overall.
