India rejoices as Shubhanshu Shukla returns from ISS
On June 25, 2025, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian in over four decades to reach the International Space Station (ISS), launching with astronauts from the US, Poland, and Hungary on SpaceX's Falcon 9 as part of Axiom Mission 4.
The Crew Dragon is set to dock with the ISS around 4:30pm IST on June 26.
More than 60 experiments on the ISS
During their two-week stay, the crew will run more than 60 experiments—including several from Indian institutions and ISRO—covering everything from human health to materials science.
Adding a personal touch, Shukla is also sharing traditional Indian foods with his fellow astronauts.
How to spot the ISS from Earth
You can catch the ISS as a bright, fast-moving dot across the sky during early mornings or evenings—no telescope needed!
Just check NASA's Spot the Station tool for exact times in your area and look west to east for that steady shine overhead.
