Article 19 invoked after Meta takedown
Officials reminded Meta that Article 19 of the Indian Constitution protects free speech but allows for reasonable restrictions.
This push comes after Meta took down a post about the Prime Minister, sparking backlash and an apology demand from a parliamentary standing committee chairman.
Anup Sanjay Dhotre, a Member of Parliament and a Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and IT, also called for stronger measures against cyber fraud and financial scams.
