India's Zoho-backed Arattai climbs past WhatsApp, Telegram in App Store

Technology

Arattai, a homegrown social app launched by Zoho in 2021, has just climbed past WhatsApp and Telegram to become India's most popular social platform.
Its strong focus on privacy and data security is pulling in users who want safer chats, and it's now topping the App Store charts.

Arattai lets you chat 1-on-one, share files, make calls

Arattai lets you chat one-on-one, share files, and make voice or video calls across phones, desktops—even Android TV.
It was acknowledged by India's Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, as a recommended local digital platform.
Still, it faces some hurdles: full end-to-end encryption isn't here yet and high demand is causing server hiccups.
If Arattai can iron these out, it could be a real contender against WhatsApp for India's massive user base.
