ISRO aces parachute test for 1st-ever Gaganyaan mission
ISRO just pulled off a big win for its upcoming Gaganyaan mission by successfully testing the parachute system that will help bring astronauts safely back to Earth.
The trial took place at a military range in Jhansi, and it's a major milestone as India gears up for its first-ever crewed space flight, following the uncrewed launch planned for 2026.
What happened during the test
Engineers dropped a mock crew module from 2.5km up using an Air Force plane, then deployed a sequence of 10 parachutes, with redundancy in the main parachutes to ensure a safe landing even if one of them fails.
The system worked perfectly, with the module landing softly and safely.
This means ISRO is one step closer to making sure future astronauts can count on a safe return home.
More tests are coming before launch day!
This isn't just another space update—it's India joining the exclusive club of countries sending humans into orbit on their own.
For anyone excited about science, tech, or just seeing what India can achieve next, this is one to watch.
