Italy's AGCM ends WhatsApp AI probe after commission expands inquiry

Italy's competition authority AGCM has decided to stop investigating Meta over its use of AI in WhatsApp.
The probe started last July because there were worries Meta might be using its market power unfairly.
Now, the European Commission has stepped in and expanded its own inquiry to cover Italy, so AGCM is handing things over.

Commission will handle Meta WhatsApp concerns

AGCM says it's dropping the case to avoid doubling up with the European Commission's investigation.
From here on out, any concerns about Meta's AI on WhatsApp, including claims of anti-competitive moves, will be handled by the commission.
