Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses are getting handwriting and Reels features

Technology

Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, launched in 2025, are about to get some cool upgrades.
Early next year, you'll be able to draw or gesture on a flat surface with your fingers using EMG handwriting, and soon after, watch Instagram Reels right on your lens.

What's new and how it works

The EMG handwriting feature uses the Meta Neural Band to pick up tiny signals from your wrist muscles—so you can "write" letters or numbers on a flat surface.
The right lens has a bright high-resolution display for notifications, messages, and soon, even Reels.
Plus, live translation will support English, Spanish, French, and Italian.

Who's it for?

At $799, these glasses are definitely for early tech adopters who like trying out futuristic stuff—even if there's just one display lens and limited prescription options.
If you want a taste of next-gen wearables (and maybe show off a little), these might be worth a look.
