OpenAI drops ChatGPT for teachers to help educators work smarter

Technology

OpenAI just launched ChatGPT for Teachers—a tool designed to make teachers' lives easier by boosting productivity and helping them team up with colleagues.
It's built with strong privacy features, so anything shared stays protected and isn't used to train AI models.
This move shows how AI is becoming a bigger part of classrooms, while OpenAI is trying to ease worries about tech replacing real thinking.

What teachers get (and how)

Verified K-12 teachers in the US can use ChatGPT for Teachers free until June 2027 by signing up through SheerID.
After that, OpenAI promises affordable pricing and plenty of heads-up before changes.
The tool's already rolling out in schools like Capistrano Unified, following all the privacy rules, and aims to help teachers with lesson planning, admin tasks, and creating custom learning materials.
