Shubhanshu Shukla's role in Gaganyaan mission
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is heading to the International Space Station (ISS) for 14 days as part of the Axiom mission—a major step toward India's own human spaceflight plans with Gaganyaan, set for 2027.
If all goes well, India could soon join the select group of countries that have sent people into space on their own.
TL;DR
Shukla, inspired by Rakesh Sharma, hopes his journey will spark more young Indians to dream about space.
He'll be working alongside global experts like Peggy Whitson, showing just how international space exploration has become.
Meanwhile, ISRO is pushing ahead with Gaganyaan and planning more test flights soon—building on cool achievements like sending a probe to Mars and landing near the moon's south pole.
