SpaceX gets US Air Force go-ahead for Starship launches in Florida

Technology

SpaceX just got official approval from the US Air Force to develop Launch Complex-37 at Cape Canaveral.
This move is a big deal for their Starship program, clearing the way for up to 76 launches and 152 landings each year—provided the FAA determines the airspace impacts are acceptable.
The decision follows a detailed environmental review to make sure everything's good to go.

Boosting space missions and honoring history

The upgrades aren't just about rockets—they're also meant to support US national security and help NASA's Artemis missions get back to the Moon.
The Air Force's plan even includes steps to protect local wildlife, like the southeastern beach mouse.
SLC-37 has a cool legacy too: it was part of Apollo-era launches in the '60s and handled Delta IV rockets until last year.
Now, SpaceX will use this historic site alongside Pad 39A for its future missions.
