SpaceX is already working on Starship version 3

Technology

SpaceX just wrapped up the last test flight of Starship Version 2 on October 13, 2025.
Now, they're gearing up for Starship V3—a taller, more powerful rocket set to launch in 2026.
With new third-gen Raptor engines and big design changes, this version aims to push space travel even further.

What's new in V3?

Starship V3 will be about 1.5 meters taller than before and is expected to carry over 100 metric tons into orbit.
It's getting smarter avionics, better batteries, and docking tech for ship-to-ship refueling—so future missions to the Moon or Mars can go longer and farther without heading back home.

NASA's Artemis missions and beyond

This version isn't just bigger—it's built for tougher missions too. Upgraded tanks and a redesigned hot staging ring make it more durable and flexible for deep space journeys.
While early flights might face some hiccups as SpaceX tests out in-space refueling and orbital maneuvers, Starship V3 is set to play a key role in future NASA lunar missions and the dream of Mars exploration.
