Swiggy, the go-to app for food delivery in India, had a major meltdown on Monday afternoon. Starting around 2:46pm people across big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad couldn't place orders or track deliveries. Payment failures and an unresponsive help section had users venting on social media.
More than half of users couldn't open the app
Downdetector reports show more than half of users struggled to even open the app, while others got stuck at checkout or couldn't see where their food was. The timing is rough for Swiggy—they're already dealing with new competition from Rapido and have paused their Genie service to focus on quick commerce. Not the smoothest day if you were counting on a snack run!
