UK businesses face rising cyber threats
A new report says 27% of UK businesses faced cyberattacks in the past year—up sharply from 16% the year before.
The survey, which included building managers and service providers, shows that digital threats are rising fast for anyone running or using business spaces.
Smart buildings especially at risk
RICS points out that smart buildings—packed with things like IoT gadgets, CCTV, and automated controls—are especially at risk.
A lot of these systems still run on old software (think Windows 7), making them easy pickings for hackers using AI and new tricks.
Companies might be "sleepwalking" into trouble
Nearly three-quarters of business leaders expect cyber issues to disrupt their work in the next two years.
Marks & Spencer was forced to halt orders on its website for almost seven weeks after an attack, leading to a big sales drop.
RICS warns companies might be "sleepwalking" into trouble if they don't get serious about cybersecurity now.
