Union government launches AI app for financial risk prevention
The Indian government just rolled out the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI), an AI-powered tool that flags risky mobile numbers in real-time using data from banks, police, and cybercrime portals.
In early tests with PhonePe and SBI, it helped block over 2 lakh shady transactions in just two weeks—pretty impressive.
FRI flags risky numbers with 99% accuracy
FRI alerts you if a number looks suspicious, boasting 99% accuracy.
It's being quickly adopted by banks and gets security updates every two weeks to stay sharp.
The app is part of a bigger push to make digital payments safer for everyone.
What else has the government done?
Alongside FRI, the government has set up over 1 lakh new 4G towers and launched apps like Sanchar Saathi (in 20 languages) to block spam calls.
Banks are also using AI tools and behavioral biometrics to catch fraud faster—good news if you're worried about online scams.
