Waymo's robotaxis debut on Uber app in Atlanta
Waymo's fully autonomous robotaxis are now available to book directly through the Uber app in Atlanta.
The service covers key neighborhoods like Downtown, Buckhead, and Capitol View—though you can't take them on highways or to the airport just yet.
This is part of Waymo and Uber's growing partnership, aiming to make self-driving rides feel as easy as ordering a regular Uber.
What the experience is like
You can pick a robotaxi at standard UberX or Comfort rates, unlock your ride using the app or the car's touchscreen, and rate your trip afterward (no tip needed).
While Uber handles cleaning and charging with help from partner Avmo, Waymo focuses on keeping the tech running smoothly.
Human-driven Ubers are still around if you'd rather stick with a person behind the wheel.
Competing against Tesla
Waymo already runs driverless rides in cities like Phoenix, San Francisco, LA, and Austin—and plans to expand to Miami and DC soon.
