India beat Australia: Here are the records broken

India registered their 50th victory against Australia in ODI cricket after beating them in match number 14 of the ICC World Cup 2019. This was India's second successive win in World Cup 2019. Batting first, India posted 352/5. Shikhar Dhawan (117) led the show. Australia failed to get past the target. Here are the records broken.

Dhawan slams 17th career ODI ton and third CWC hundred

Shikhar Dhawan slammed his 17th career ODI ton. The southpaw now has 5,480 career ODI runs and went past a host of batsmen with this tally that includes Joe Root, Michael Hussey and Ian Bell. The senior cricketer went past the 500-run mark in 2019 and slammed his second ton of the year. Dhawan also slammed his third World Cup hundred.

Dhawan, Rohit notch 16th century-plus stand and other feats

Dhawan, who surpassed the 500-run mark for India in the World Cup, added 127 runs for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma (57). This was the 16th century-plus stand between the two batsmen in ODI cricket. Dhawan and Rohit have 4,726 partnership runs between them at an average of 45.44. Rohit also went past 500 World Cup runs for India (509).

Dhawan, Team India notch records at The Oval

Dhawan is now the fifth highest run-scorer at The Oval (443). He has three centuries here and that has made him the joint-highest centurion at The Oval alongside former England batsman Marcus Trescothick. India scripted their highest total at this venue. This was also the fourth highest total by a team here. Their previous best score here was 321/6 against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Dhawan and Rohit's tryst with records continues

Dhawan became the second Indian player to score a century against the Aussies in World Cup cricket. The southpaw has recorded the highest score by an Indian against Australia in the World Cup. Dhawan scripted his fourth career ODI ton on English soil. He overcame Sachin and Rohit (3 each). Rohit amassed his fourth consecutive fifty-plus score in ODIs.

Kohli surpasses legend Dravid and Rohit impresses with the bat

Kohli (82) slammed his 50th half-century in ODIs. He now has 10,943 career ODI runs and surpassed the legendary Rahul Dravid (10,889 runs). Kohli went past 700 runs this year in ODIs (711). This was his second fifty in 2019. Rohit is now India's highest run-scorer in 2019 (735). It was his fifth fifty this year and a 42nd career half-century.

Some notable feats achieved in this match

Openers Dhawan and Rohit have amassed a ton each in CWC 19. The only other opening batsman to slam a ton is England's Jason Roy. Nathan Coulter-Nile dismissed Rohit for the fourth time in ODI cricket. Rohit became only the second Indian player to score 2,000 ODI runs against Australia. Sachin Tendulkar (3,077 runs) is the only other cricketer to achieve this feat.

India script fourth highest World Cup score

Highest totals for India in ICC ODI World Cup:

    413/5 v Bermuda, Port of Spain, 2007
    373/6 v Sri Lanka, Taunton, 1999
    370/4 v Bangladesh, Dhaka, 2011
    352/5 v Australia, The Oval, 2019*
    338 v England, Bangalore, 2011#INDvAUS

    Smith, Warner script impressive feats

Steve Smith (69) has amassed fifty-plus runs in seven out of his last eight World Cup innings. The Australian cricketer notched his 21st career ODI fifty. David Warner (56) slammed his 19th career ODI fifty. Warner and Aaron Finch added 61 runs for the first wicket. They now have 2,298 partnership runs in 51 innings. This was their 12th 50-plus partnership in ODIs.

How did the match pan out?

India got off to a dream start and that helped them set the base for a big score. Kohli joined in and played a gem of an innings as well. Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni helped the side get past 350. In reply, Australia started off cautiously and stayed in touch. But India pulled the trigger with plenty of wickets.
