    What's the story

    The coronavirus pandemic has caused a worldwide catastrophe with over 11,000 deaths reported.

    Europe has been affected badly with Italy reporting the most deaths (4,000-plus).

    In this scenario, Serie A club AS Roma have decided to fund three intensive care ventilators and eight beds for a hospital in Rome.

    Crucial aid distributed by Roma

    Also on Thursday, the club and charity Roma Cares delivered 8,000 pairs of protective gloves and 2,000 bottles of sanitizing hand gel to churches in key locations of the Italian capital.

    This is to be redistributed among the vulnerable in their communities.

    The Lazzaro Spallanzani Hospital in Rome is desperate for new equipment and Roma agreed to help for a noble cause.

    Players, staff donate a day's salary to raise funds

    According to the BBC, Roma's first-team players and coaching staff donated a day's salary to take the side's fundraising campaign to 460,000 euros (£424,000). Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Roma delivered 13,000 FFP2 masks to hospitals in the city, besides 120 500ml bottles of hand sanitizer.

    Napoli and Cagliari players to resume training

    Italian club Napoli announced that the team will resume training soon amid the virus outbreak.

    "SSC Napoli announces that the team will resume training at the Technical Center on March 25 with a morning session," the club said in a statement.

    Meanwhile, Serie A side Cagliari has also said that it will train with players split into groups on Monday.

    Over 4,600 new COVID-19 cases were found in Italy on Friday. There has been no sporting activity taking place in the nation since March 9 as a result of the coronavirus outbreak which has so far claimed over 11,000 lives across the world.
