IPL 2021, RCB thrash RR to remain unbeaten: Records broken

Royal Challengers Bangalore overcame Rajasthan Royals in match number 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season on Thursday. Chasing a target of 178, RCB rode on supreme knocks by Devdutt Padikkal (101*) and Virat Kohli (72*) to get the job done at the Wankhede in Mumbai. With this win, RCB (181/0) maintained their 100% record in the IPL 2021 season. Here's more.

How did the match pan out?

RR got off to a poor start, losing three wickets for just 18. They were again pegged back at 43/4 before Shivam Dube and Riyan Parag added a fifty-plus stand. Just when RR found some momentum, RCB bowlers hit back. Rahul Tewatia played a brisk innings in the end. In reply, RCB openers Padikkal and Kohli helped RCB win with a brilliant batting display.

Virat Kohli gets past 6,000 runs

Kohli has gone past 500 runs against the Royals, becoming just the sixth player to do so (554). He slammed his fourth fifty against the Royals and is now the fourth-highest scorer against them after Shikhar Dhawan (556).

Kohli and Padikkal stitch record partnership for RCB
