Langer wants Aussies to be on top in all aspects
Australia cricket team head coach Justin Langer wants his side to become the most professional and honest team in world cricket. The Aussies are preparing for the 2018 season. The cricketers will hope to put behind the ball-tampering scandal behind them and play with honesty and humility. Here is what Langer said as Aussies start preparations.
Being a good person trumps everything else
The former Aussie opener, who replaced Darren Lehmann as the head coach, wants his side to achieve the number one status in professionalism, honesty and humility. Langer opined that it doesn't matter how many runs a player has scored or how much money one has earned, it all comes down to being a good person. He wants his side to stick together.
Aussies hope to earn trust back
After the ball-tampering scandal that rocked the cricket world, Aussies are bound to receive hostile reception in England, whom they face next from June 13 onwards. Langer feels that good behavior on and off the field will help them earn respect and trust back.
Justin Langer has a task at hand
Langers's biggest challenge will be to fix the scandal-hit team, improve the team's behavior and win back the trust of the people. Apart from that, India's tour of Australia towards the end of this year and the Ashes series early next year will be the two key tournaments where his ability, as a coach, will be put to test.
Australia's schedule ahead in 2018
The Aussies will be playing against England in 5 ODIs besides a single T20I next month. Earlier this year, they lost to England 4-1 at home and needs a better show to pip the number one ODI side in the world. Following the series, they face Pakistan and Zimbabwe in T20Is. Post a break, they take on SA in five ODIs in November.
