Liam Plunkett is a professional cricket player from England who plays for the England cricket team and the Surrey County Cricket Club. The right-arm fast bowler was an important part of the England cricket squad that won the Cricket World Cup 2019. He developed a keen interest in the game at a very young age. Apart from England, Plunkett has played for Durham Cricket Board, Dolphins, Sylhet Sixers, Yorkshire, England Under-19s, England Lions, Durham, and Durham 2nd XI. He started his cricket career with Durham where he made his debut in 2003 for the senior side. On his debut, he took 19 first-class wickets. He was also a part of the Durham side which won the 2008 County Championship for the very first time. On November 29, 2005, Plunkett made his Test debut at Gaddafi Stadium against Pakistan. His ODI debut was also against Pakistan in December 2005. After some years of obscurity, Plunkett returned to international cricket in 2014. On November 27, 2015, he was declared the Man of the Match in the T20 match against Pakistan. During the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, he was named the team’s highest wicket-taker.
