Mosaddek Hossain: News

A gifted right-handed batsman with a penchant for big scores, Mosaddek Hossain hails from Mymensingh. When he helped a struggling Abahani Limited survive in the 2013 Dhaka Premier League, he was only 18 years of age. That showed the selectors, pundits, and fans the potential the young lad possessed. Mosaddek made his first-class debut for Dhaka Division in 2014. He had the most forgetful of debuts as he was out for a pair in his first match. This led to him being dropped from the team but he came back in the next season with a bang. He has the distinction of being the only Bangladeshi to score three double centuries in first-class cricket. He made his international debut in a T20I against Zimbabwe in 2016. His Test debut came against Sri Lanka in 2017. His captain in Abhani Limited, Tami Iqbal, described him as someone who is very mature for his age. However, Mosaddek’s success in the domestic circuit did not translate entirely into international cricket. He was unable to make much impact in the ODIs and Tests, however, he remained a regular in the T20I team.
