Royal Challengers Bangalore, IPL 2021: Fixtures, squad and more!

IPL 2020: How did RCB fare?

Royal Challengers Bangalore improved their record in the last IPL season. They claimed the playoffs berth for the first time since 2016. However, the Virat Kohli-led side lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator. They also won the Super-Over clash against reigning champions Mumbai Indians. The RCB finished on number four in the league stage, winning seven out of 14 encounters.

Squad: Players retained and bought

Retained: Virat Kohli (c), Devdutt Padikkal, Josh Philippe (wk), AB de Villiers (wk), Pavan Deshpande, Washington Sundar, Daniel Sams, Yuzvendra Chahal, Adam Zampa, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Kane Richardson, Harshal Patel.

Players bought: Glenn Maxwell, Sachin Baby, Rajat Patidar, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Kyle Jamieson, Daniel Christian, Suyash Prabhudessai, K.S. Bharat.

How do we rate them?

After letting go of quite a few players, the RCB made some hefty signings at the IPL 2021 Auction. They bought Australia’s Glenn Maxwell for a whopping Rs. 14.25 crore. They also invested in the tall fast bowler Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand) for Rs. 15.00 crore. Meanwhile, fast-bowling all-rounder Daniel Christian could also be a valuable asset for them this season. Overall, it appears to be a balanced side.
