Articles about Brendan Taylor
One of the finest cricketers to ever play for Zimbabwe, Brendan Taylor began his international career in 2004 when many of the country's leading players rebelled against the Zimbabwe Cricket Board and made themselves unavailable. Taylor was 18 at that time. He made his first-class debut at the age of 15, and his rise to prominence began as a first-class player. In fact, he was considered as one of the bright prospects of Zimbabwean cricket. Taylor's best international knock since his debut came against Australia in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, in which he guided Zimbabwe to a five-wicket win. He has played various roles in the team throughout his time: batsman, part-time bowler, and wicketkeeper. He was named the captain of the Zimbabwean side after the 2011 World Cup. In 2013, against Bangladesh, he became the first Zimbabwean and 12th player ever to score a century in both innings of a Test match. He was left out of the national team when he joined Nottinghamshire but came back to the international fold in 2017.
