    PV Sindhu wins historic gold medal at BWF World Championships
  • Indian women's singles star shuttler PV Sindhu won the final of the BWF World Championships for the first time in her career.

    The badminton ace thrashed Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in straight games.

    This was a fabulous performance from Sindhu as she bagged her first title of 2019.

    She dominated the show from the start and zoomed to victory.

  • The 24-year-old star shuttler has always managed to peak at the BWF World Championships.

    Before this majestic feat, Sindhu was a double silver medallist at the BWF World Championships, besides winning two bronze medals.

    Her silver medals came in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

    This time Sindhu fought valiantly right from the start and got the job done in a brilliant fashion.

  • Sindhu was right on the money from the first game and didn't allow Okuhara any space. She collected points at a pile and stunned the Japanese, who couldn't come to terms with Sindhu's dominance. This helped the Indian shuttler win in a convincing fashion.

  • Sindhu lost in the quarters of Indonesia Masters 2019, Asia Championships and Japan Open.

    She was ousted in the round of 32 at the All England Open.

    Sindhu lost in the semis of the Indian Open and Singapore Open respectively.

    It was followed by a round of 16 loss at the Malaysian Open and Australian Open.

    She was a runner-up at the Indonesian Open.

  • In the men's doubles final, Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi beat the Chinese pair of Junhui Li and Yuchen Liu to win the gold medal.

    They won the encounter 21-19 and 21-13 in straight games.

    Meanwhile, in the all-Japan women's doubles final, Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara overcame Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota 21-11, 20-22, 23-21 in a thrilling contest.
